Our guided trips and classes are perfect for anyone who is interested in learning how to kayak, improving their skills, exploring new lakes and rivers, or simply meeting other paddlers who share our passion for the water.

We offer classes taught by American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructors with an emphasis on having fun while staying safe. Our sessions are not in a classroom but are taught under the trees and on the river in your own personal floating workstation (a kayak, of course).

We also guide fun adventure trips on southern waterways.  All trips are led by certified guides. Our trips are special. You will be treated like family while you are with us.

Don’t be surprised if you leave with a few new life-long friendships.

No boat? No problem, we have them. All necessary equipment is part of our packages.

There is no age limit in this sport.  People are kayaking across the country and around the world from age 4 to 100!

Dustin Miller is a Level 2 ACA certified instructor. In June 2023 he left a 25-year career in civil engineering to follow his dreams and turn KayakTripsAndTraining into a father/son adventure.

ACA Certified Instructors

John "River Papa" Miller has been a Level 2 ACA instructor since 2007. He is trained in swift-water rescue and wilderness first aid. He has taught more than 5,000 students to kayak and more new students per year than any other ACA instructor in the Southeast for several years in a row.

Clint Miller

Clint Miller started paddling with John over a decade ago, after taking one of John's Essentials of River Kayaking classes, and his passion for kayaking and helping others has made him an invaluable part of growing KayakTripAndTraining over the years. He is a retired Fire Chief with many years of advanced safety training, and an avid white water paddler. Clint is well known for his willingness to teach and guide beginning paddlers any where he goes.

For those of you who have done a swamp trip with us in the past, we are changing things a bit. Instead of staying at the Eco Lodge in Fargo (18 miles from the park), we have 6 cabins reserved inside the park. This puts us closer to the action and will allow us to to add some new activities.
